With age, we become more insular. Relying on long-term friendships for companionship. As we move forward and life situations alter, we might find ourselves living in a new location, or in the same location but with a different set of circumstances. We change over time, and sometimes older friendships don’t move forward with us.

Statistics show that one of the biggest fears faced by elders is loneliness. But often, making new friends can be difficult. We stop trying.

It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
